Funding

Legacy Trust UK has £40 million funding which we are channeling through twelve Nations and Regions and four national programmes.

Please note that we do not run any open grant application programmes – all of our funding has already been allocated through these existing channels and the Trust is unable to consider any new requests for funding.

Regional programmes

We have allocated approximately £24 million to twelve programmes across the UK’s Nations and Regions. The allocations are based on a baseline per nation or region of £500,000 and an allocation weighted according to population and deprivation indices.

The grants are managed and distributed by regional bodies who understand what will work in their regions, and where investment is needed.

Each regional programme is managed by an Advisory Group, which consists of a range of sporting and cultural organisations. The Trust believes that this collaborative approach to strategic fund management could itself leave a useful legacy for future funding programme delivery in each Nation and Region.

National programmes

The remainder of our endowment has been allocated to four major national programmes to engage young people and communities and leave a lasting legacy from the 2012 Games:

  • UK School Games 2008-11
  • somewhereto
  • Tate Movie
  • Community Celebrations (consisting of Games Time, Land of Giants, Speed of Light and Tree of Light)
