UK School Games

The UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s talented young athletes of school age. Over 1600 young athletes compete annually in ten sports: Athletics, Badminton, Fencing, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis, Track Cycling and Volleyball, with disability events in swimming athletics and table tennis.

The UK School Games seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting which replicates a major international multi-sport competition and which encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport. The Youth Sport Trust created the event as part of its mission to revitalise competition and sporting opportunities for young people.

The 2010 UK School Games took place in the north east of England, and the programme was officially launched in Newcastle on 15 March 2010 by Olympic gold medallist Jason Gardener. You can watch highlights from the 2010 Games in Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland below.

The 2011 Games will take place in Sheffield in September. For more information on the event, tickets and volunteering opportunities, please visit the UK School Games website.
