Novlette is the Chief Executive of Sporting Equals Ltd and has been with the organisation since its foundation in October 1998. She began as a National Sports Development Officer and was promoted to Project Manager in April 2000. In April 2002, her title changed to Director to reflect the strategic level of her work. She became Chief Executive in August, 2006. Novlette was awarded an OBE for Services to Diversity in Sport in the 2007 Queen’s New Year’s Honours list. More recently, in February 2007, Novlette was appointed as a board member to the Board of Legacy Trust UK
In November 2002, as a result of work initiated by Novlette, Sporting Equals was a Gold Standard winner at The British Diversity Awards. In 2005, Novlette was nominated for Woman of the Year at the 2005 GG2 Leadership & Diversity Awards. In August 2006, she won the Physical Activity & Sports Category at the first ever Council of Black Led Churches (CBLC) Black Achievement Showcase Awards. Prior to joining Sporting Equals, Novlette spent 13 years working for Sheffield City Council in the areas of Leisure and Recreation, Action Sports, Education, supporting the Youth Opportunities Training Scheme and Social Services. Most notably, she was Training and Development Consultant for Equal Opportunities, providing support and advice on areas such as service delivery, employment and management training.
A professionally qualified trainer herself, Novlette has also been a consultant for the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW). Novlette is currently undertaking a MA in Sociology of Sport at Leicester University.
