Richard Fries
Richard Fries has been a trustee of TimeBank since 2000 and is its Vice-Chair and Treasurer. He was Chief Charity Commissioner from 1992-99, and previously a civil servant in the Home Office. Since leaving the Commission he has been involved in issues concerning charity and not-for-profit law and regulation. From 1999-2005 he was Chair of the Board of the International Center for Not-for-profit Law (ICNL), a Washington based organisation concerned with promoting an enabling legal and institutional environment for civil society in Eastern Europe and worldwide. Among other positions he was a member of the McFadden Commission which led to the creation of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). He was a visiting fellow of the Centre for Civil Society at the London School of Economics from 2000-06.
